Minneapolis’ artist MMYYKK has dropped his latest single, ‘Science’. The tune blends funk, R&B and hip-hop into something truly exciting. The incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist kicks off the track with just his vocal and distant, dramatic piano line before bursting out into a smooth, groovy beat. Electronic sounds dip in and out of the texture, while jazzy chords provide nods to an array of influences, such as Herbie Hancock and Thundercat. On the meaning behind the track, MMYYKK explains: “’Science’ is a colloquialism I developed some years ago that’s now commonly used in my friend circle. It’s essentially when something is dope because it is also complex, deep or just generally requires precise skill to create or execute; and it is done in a stylish way.” The Science EP is out now. -Dan Peeke
